Steps to follow

STEP 1 – THE SCHOLARSHIP SIMULATION

It is highly recommended to do the simulation to know if you can claim a scholarship. All you have to do is to indicate your family’s resources amount for 2012, the number of siblings on your parents’ tax burden as well as the distance between your home and the university chosen. This procedure will immediately give you a hint of the possible scholarship amount.

Watch out: it is a calculation based on the scale in effect at the moment of the information entry, therefore it might change later on.

STEP 2 – ONLINE CREATION OF THE FILE BETWEEN THE 15TH OF JANUARY AND THE 30TH OF APRIL

Before to start the procedure of a DSE creation, prepare the necessary supporting documents:

  • 2013 tax due based on the 2012 income of the family
  • Your student number (INE) that appears on the registering confirmation to the “baccalaureate” or on the the student card.

Create the DSE online on the CROUS website of the regional education authority where you are currently studying. This CROUS (called “CROUS of origin”) fulfill the function of centralized administration. It will be your representative during the examination of your case even if you want to study in another regional education authority.

Formulate your study choices in the regional education authorities of your choice. In total you can make 4 wishes in different academies. During the creation of the DSE, follow carefully the instructions given page by page (aid claimed, study choices, other information…). As for your accommodation application, you can access the list of every hall of residence located around the university you have chosen. A detailed record shows the prices of the rent and charges for the ongoing school year as well as the available comfort elements.

Watch out! You must go until the last page to validate your file. In case of an unexpected disjunction, you will have to start the procedure all over again.

At the end of the procedure, a confirmation email will be sent to you. You will have to click on the indicated link. The file will then be given to you as an attached document by email.

STEP 3 – VALIDATION OF THE FILE AND SENDING OF THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT WITHIN 15 DAYS

After reception of the file, check the information and complete or modify them if necessary. Then, according to the instructions given in the additional information document, send back the signed file and the required supporting documents.

Watch out ! Your scholarship application will be taken into consideration at the return date of the file. In case of wishes in other authorities, your CROUS will transfer through an IT procedure your file to the CROUS of the authorities concerned.

STEP 4 – PROCESSING OF YOUR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION BY THE CROUS

As soon as you returned your complete file, the CROUS services process the application and give you an assumption through a “conditional” notification sent by email. This notification indicates the granting decision or the rejection of your scholarship and/or accommodation request (awarding, waiting list, rejection).

This decision will be reached rapidly if you sent to the CROUS a complete file within the required period.

STEP 5 – CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION IN A HIGH EDUCATION ESTABLISHMENT

Your final enrollment will allow the CROUS to set the final amount of your scholarship. The CROUS must receive a written proof of your registration in higher education to be able to definitively validate your file and put in motion the payment of your scholarship. Depending on the region education authorities, either your university will give the registration proof directly to the CROUS or you will have to do it yourself. Ask for information about the transmission methods of this document to your university during the registration process. The CROUS will send you afterwards a final notification of scholarship.

In case of a change of regional education authority, the CROUS of origin will give your file to the receiving CROUS which will become your new centralized administration.

Important: during the creation of your DSE, if you did not make any wish in the authority where you will study, you have to ask to the CROUS of origin to transfer your file (attach a registration proof).

Watch out: significant and permanent change of situation can lead at anytime to the reviewing of your file. You can lodge an appeal in case of disagreement with the administration’s decision.
