What’s the student social security ?

The student social security is a compulsory insurance that allows you to be refunded, as the other insured parties, a part of your expenses. The “student cooperative” are in charge of managing your student social security: they will pay you back according to the same rates as the insured parties of other systems.

WHO IS CONCERNED ?

Every student must join the student healthcare system, except in particular cases. Log on www.ameli.fr to know the particular cases (you have an employed activity, the profession of your parents covers you as long as you are a student, you are a foreign student, you are a student and over 28 years old or you go to an unapproved establishment …)

WHICH MUTUAL ORGANISATION?

The choice of the student mutual organisation that is going to manage your student social security has to be made when you administratively register at the university. You have the choice between the LMDE (the student mutual society) and one of the regional mutual organisations linked to the USEM (student regional mutual society).

HOW MUCH WILL IT PAY YOU BACK?

The student mutual organisations refund the same amounts in conformance as part of your student social security : for example your student social security will pay you back 70% of the sum you pay for a check-up at the doctor (the check-up is currently at 23€).
